When you walk through the impressive vineyards of Mapu Merlot, you will experience one surprise after another. The view is dazzling and breathtaking. Baroness Philippine De Rothschild has clearly used her knowledge of wine growing when purchasing these vineyards. It was this Rothschild scion who bought a large number of vineyards in Maule Valley in the mid-1990s to establish a new winery. Now, more than 25 years later, the wines amaze friend and foe, because the price-quality is sky-high.

The vineyards of Mapu Merlot
The vines full of Merlot grapes grow in Maule Valley. This wine region includes the southern part of the large Central Valley, a wine region located south of the capital Santiago. Chile is extremely suitable as a wine country, because the natural conditions are ideal for growing grapes. The relative proximity to the ocean provides coolness and freshness, while the Andes on the eastern flank act as a natural barrier.

The smell and taste of Mapu Merlot
Mapu Merlot is everyone's friend, with which you can really surprise everyone. Smooth and accessible, but with that little bit of extra excitement that only a real Rothschild wine can give you. The nose shows fresh red fruit notes. Redcurrants, raspberries and blueberries. Generously swirl Mapu Merlot through your glass and a hint of licorice is clearly recognizable. The taste is soft and smooth. The red fruit hits your taste buds like a tsunami. The aftertaste gives just a little bit extra. A touch of nuts and spices lingers for a long time on the back of the tongue.
